It goes without saying that this low level of compliance should be of concern to any serious government. In order to increase the level of tax compliance, there needs to be a simplification of the tax system as well as capacity building through training of personnel in order to increase the enforcement by tax authorities because compliance does not fall solely on the tax payer.
There should be an enlightenment and awareness campaign in order to inform the public about the benefits of tax compliance, while the Government ensures that these benefits are actually happening.
